Many carto-bibliographical books have been made to present the mapping history of a country or province, and innumerable illustrated books have been published dealing with every aspect of historical cartography.
All have one in common, as soon as such a book is published, its content is already outdated.
After publication the author is getting numerous reactions, additional information and often unknown variants are turning up. Ironically the author can only update his publication when a re-print is published.
