HALL,Sydney

Sydney Hall was a prolific engraver and publisher in his own right. Based in London, his work is first encountered in an Arrowsmith Atlas of 1817 and runs through to around 1850. Dr. Samuel Butler (1774-1839) became Lord Bishop of Lichfield and later Coventry.

His 'Ancient Geography' was first published in c.1822, with 'Modern Geography' being produced in c.1825. It ran to numerous editions up to about 1850, being continued by his son.
