Librarie Loeb-Larocque specializes in maps, atlases and travel books from the 16th - 19th century.
The firm was founded in 1958 by my father Louis Loeb-Larocque. Orginally from Germany he arrived, shortly after the War in France. He started an antiquarian map and book shop fist in Monaco, but shortly after he moved to Paris. He build a company specializing in early maps, atlases, travel books and prints. The shop was housed until my father's death in 1996 at Rue Le Peletier in Paris and was frequently visited by collectors and fellow dealers from all parts of the world.
Since November 1976 Loeb-Larocque offers a yearly auction for old maps and views, atlases, prints and travel books.
I jointed the company in 1982, but basically I'm interested in books since my childhood. Picture to the right is taken at the Stutgartt Antiquarian book fair of 1968.
Present-day the librarie is located in Paris in the lively 13th district at 31, rue de Tolbiac, a 5 minutes walk from the Biliotheque National de France and China Town. Visitors are welcome by appointment from monday till friday.
We carry a fine stock of maps of all parts of the world, atlases, prints and illustrated books.
